The Stars have had a stellar 2026 basketball season. On March 3, the men’s basketball team annihilated Kellogg Community College, winning 111-99 in their Great Lakes District C Quarterfinal. By winning, the Stars qualified to play against Henry Ford College for the championship game.

The Stars scored the first points of the game against Henry Ford College. However, the lead didn’t last long, as the opposing team creeped forward, taking the lead. The scores remained dormant, with the enemy team on top until Devon Hodges scored two three-point shots back-to-back, putting the Stars neck-and-neck with the Hawks.

The second half was the turning point for the Stars. Hodges—feeling the pressure of the game—made a three-point shot, giving the Stars the much-needed lead over Henry Ford College. After battling it out for the rest of the half, the game entered overtime, where the Stars won 94-87 and became Great Lakes District C Champions.

Not only did the Stars win the district title, but they broke records. Zander Woodruff #23 has continued to raise the bar for LCC athletes. Woodruff recently broke LCC’s record for scoring, according to the Lansing State Journal. Not only that, but Woodruff is on the radar by many scouting reports for being a “dangerous shooter.” He was also named the Great Lakes District C Tournament MVP.

The team continued their winning streak at the NJCCA Division II championship with a first-round win over Arkansas State Mid-South. However, they lost the second-round game against Des Moines Area Community College, knocking them down to the consolation bracket. They ended up winning this bracket however, leading to them placing 7th nationally in the division.

The Stars ended their season with an overall record of 28-8 and a conference record of 11-3. The successful season was a valuable learning experience for the Stars. Many players broke records—as did Coach Ingram, who earned his 700th win while coaching the Stars—and continued showing their strength on court to the very end.
