Training future vets at LCC

This semester, student Layne Carter wanted to have a club for the future career he was interested in. However, at the time, there was no such club. That’s when Carter decided to go to faculty members Arthur Wohlwill and Ken Davenport about starting the Vet Med Club. “I had previous experience with a premedical student club,” Wohlwill said. “So, I volunteered to one of the faculty advisors.”

The club is for any student who is interested in veterinary medicine, any medical career, or those who are just interested in working with animals. Everyone is welcome. The current goals of the club are to continue setting up pet supply boxes (there are already three around the Downtown Campus), to shadow vets at veterinary facilities and work with animals in shelters. There are no defined dates yet for when the club plans to work with animals and shadow veterinarians, but it is currently being discussed.

Those interested in joining the club can email Wohlwill through the clubs and organizations website.
