The 2026 volleyball season brings a new head coach

As the volleyball team enters their 2026-2027 season, a new head coach joins the ranks. Jason Zeek began working in March of this year according to his LinkedIn, after past head coach Emily Quintero stepped down to spend more time with her family. Previously, Zeek was a volleyball coach for Portland High School for several seasons, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Zeek stated that he is looking forward to transitioning from the high school level to the college level. “The increase in pace of play combined with technical prowess will be a fun challenge that will force development of the team, and of my ability as a coach,” he said.
One goal Zeek has for the new year is filling in the shoes of his predecessor. “The LCC program has had success, and there are expectations to live up to. I consider those shoes to fill more of a goal than a worry,” Zeek explained.
Even though the transition process has been smooth, Zeek has faced some challenges due to the short amount of time he has had to prepare for the season. However, he doubts that it will impact his performance, as the support he has had around him has been wonderful.
Greg Lattig, the director of athletics, is excited for the next year with new head coach. “He has worked hard with our current returning players, while bringing in a strong recruiting class,” Lattig said. “He brings positive energy and successful coaching experience from Portland High School and MSU Club Volleyball. He has a passion for volleyball and a vision for long term success for our program.”
